Kumu Kauʻi dedicated the mele to her daughters, Kanoe and Leiola, and to the haumāna of
Hālau Nā Wai Ola. They originally recorded the mele/video with Vini Joy and Rodney Takahashi in 2016. Four years later it was recorded by Kūpaoa along with a music video featuring Kanoe. It was nominated by the Hawaiʻi Academy of Recording Arts and was top 5 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards finalist of 2020 for both "Single of the Year" and "Music Video of the Year"
